There probably isn’t a person who dislikes strolling around a new city on a beautiful sunny day. On the other hand, I guess that all of us experienced those moments when you regret going out from your rented room when a sudden downpour surprises you in your travel sneakers and you end drenched all over in a completely foreign city.

But there is something magical about raining in an unfamiliar city, especially if you manage to get quickly to a cosy coffeeshop. Do you know that sudden feeling of happiness? That moment when you take a freshly ordered cup and feel the warmth of it and you feel like there is nothing more you miss and you are completely content? It’s a very humble way of contentment, a quiet and relieved state of mind that you encounter only in situations out of your comfort zone. In fact, the thing that I love the most about travelling is this feeling of being totally comforted right beside my comfort zone, caused by pure realisation of it and by welcoming whatever is happening.

These photos of Paris remind me of this feeling strongly. Moreover, Paris looks even more chic when rain is pouring down its streets, don’t you think?

And then, the sun is up again and maybe a small rainbow forms under the clouds and I feel almost like in a fairytale.
